Près des deux tiers des ordinateurs vendus d’ici 2027, soit dans un peu plus de trois ans, seront équipés à la fois de hardware et de logiciels qui prendront en charge la nouvelle vague d’applications d’IA. C’est ce qu’écrit l’institut d’études de marché Canalys dans sa dernière étude.(septembre 2023)
L’intelligence artificielle fait rapidement son entrée dans les entreprises et chez les consommateurs. D’ici l’année prochaine, un ordinateur sur cinq contiendra déjà des composants d’intelligence artificielle. Ce chiffre passera rapidement à 6 PC sur 10, ce qui représente 175 millions d’appareils. Ce segment connaîtra une croissance annuelle de 94 % entre 2024 et 2027.
De nombreux appareils peuvent déjà gérer des applications d’IA, mais l’utilisation professionnelle avancée de l’IA devra sortir d’un autre tonneau pour offrir des réponses en temps réel, sans trop de retard et avec une sécurité avancée. Selon Canalys, ces ordinateurs auront besoin d’un « chipset dédié » dans le châssis. Les exemples incluent les moteurs neuronaux d’Apple, le VPU Movidius d’Intel et l’APU d’AMD. D’autres processeurs optimisés pour l’IA sortiront dans les mois à venir, selon Canalys.
L’arrivée de la nouvelle version de Windows fin 2024 avec des applications d’IA donnera également un coup de pouce. L’analyste de marché est toutefois conscient que la notion d’ordinateurs dotés d’IA finira par disparaître au moment où tous les PC seront équipés de tels chipsets.
